LACLUBAR (Timorpost.com)– On 31st August 2022, Mr. Masami KINEFUCHI, Ambassador of Japan to Timor-Leste attended two inauguration ceremonies of two newly renovated school buildings, Fatulaun school and Wernae-Leu school, in Orlalan Village, Laclubar Administrative Post, Manatuto Municipality. The ceremonies were organized by the local NGOs that implemented the projects, Leobalu foundation and STVJ Manatuto, respectively. Local government officials of relevant authorities, stakeholders, teachers, school staffs, and students joined Ambassador Kinefuchi in the ceremony.
Ambassador KINEFUCHI extended his sincere gratitude to the people of Orlalan Village and two local NGOs for the excellent renovation of school buildings. One of the students in Wernae-Leu school said, “I feel happy to have this new building. It will protect our safe environment. We don’t have leaking of rain anymore, we don’t feel cold from strong wind anymore. I’m looking forward to using this new classroom from tomorrow.”
The projects, funded through Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots and Human Security(GGP), aim to improve the educational environment for approximately 500 students, ultimately improving the quality of education and students’ life. The Government of Japan provided US$90,781for the construction of three classrooms and one teachers’ room in Fatulaun school, and $90,879 for the construction of three classrooms and five restrooms in Wernae-Leu school.
The GGP has launched 132 projects in 13 Municipalities since its first project started in 2000.It mainly provides assistance for community infrastructure including construction and rehabilitation of school facilities, public clinics and water supply systems, address ingvarious basic human needs at the grassroots level.
